The name Serenolide™ likely derives from combining the word "serene" with the suffix "olide" used in chemistry to describe cyclic esters or lactones, perhaps pointing to its chemical structure and calming scent properties.
Givaudan, the company that created Serenolide™, was founded in 1895 and has grown into one of the leading global producers of fragrances and flavors, with operations in over 100 countries.
Synthetic fragrance molecules like Serenolide™ often offer advantages over natural extracts, such as greater stability over time, a more consistent scent profile and the ability to create unique fragrance notes not found in nature.
