Description
Benzyl salicylate is a widely used fragrance ingredient known for its unique dual aromatic character. To some, it exudes a light, floral scent, while to others it suggests a warm, musky feel. This versatility makes it valuable, as perfumers incorporate it into both refined floral fragrances and sensual musk compositions. Benzyl salicylate has a natural origin, as it is found in a variety of plants such as carnations, jasmine, and ylang-ylang blossoms, as well as fruits like cranberries, lending a natural touch to aromatic creations.

Regulatory information
Benzyl salicylate is a fully evaluated and widely used fragrance ingredient. It has been recognized by European Union scientific bodies as a potential skin sensitizer, meaning it can cause a skin reaction such as redness, rash, or itching. The Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) has completed a formal safety assessment and concluded that benzyl salicylate is a weak skin sensitizer. The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) has established standards for its acceptable concentrations in various consumer products. In an extensive study, 99.9% of participants reported no reaction to benzyl salicylate.
