Sea buckthorn, the natural source of Isoamyl hexanoate, is considered a nutritional treasure. It contains more vitamin C than oranges and has been used for centuries in traditional Asian and European medicine.
Isoamyl hexanoate belongs to the family of chemical compounds called esters. Esters are known for their pleasant aromas and form the basis of many fruity scents in nature. When you smell a ripe fruit, you are often recognizing the scent of esters!
The laboratory synthesis of this ingredient prevents overharvesting of sea buckthorn, helping to preserve biodiversity. Producing 1 kilo of natural extract would require a massive amount of plant matter, making the synthetic version a more ecological choice.
