Lemongrass has been used for centuries in traditional Southeast Asian medicine, not only as an insect repellent but also to address fevers, digestive issues, and infections.
The way it repels mosquitoes is particularly interesting: it blocks carbon dioxide receptors in mosquitoes, preventing them from locating humans, as mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide we exhale.
In addition to repelling mosquitoes, lemongrass essential oil has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, making it a valuable ingredient in skincare and aromatherapy products.
