Description
Methylenedioxyphenyl methylpropanal is a valuable fragrance ingredient known for delivering natural marine nuances that evoke a fresh breeze. Its main aromatic note is muguet (lily of the valley), a soft, white floral scent enriched with subtle, cool melon notes. These characteristic melon notes are often used in high-end fragrances to impart a unique freshness. The ingredient is produced in laboratories through various methods, including synthesis from piperonal, a natural substance found in plants such as dill and vanilla. Today, its production increasingly focuses on using renewable raw materials, contributing to sustainability and the conservation of natural resources.

The safety of methylenedioxyphenyl methylpropanal has been evaluated by the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) and a relevant scientific study has been published. It has been found that there is a potential for skin sensitization in a small percentage of individuals. This means that in some people, repeated contact may cause a temporary reaction such as redness, rash or itching. These reactions vary from person to person, depending on the body's immune response. The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) has established safe use standards for this ingredient in personal care and household products at levels much lower than those that could trigger a reaction in the majority of the population.
