Additional information
During the COVID-19 pandemic, isopropanol became in high demand as a key ingredient in hand sanitizers, with the WHO recommending a concentration of at least 60% for effective virus neutralization.
Although they appear similar, isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol) and ethanol (ethyl alcohol) have a significant chemical difference - isopropanol is toxic if ingested, while ethanol is the type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages.
Aside from fragrances and sanitizers, isopropanol is found in many everyday products such as glass cleaners, antifreezes, electronics cleaners and nail polish removers.
