Allyl alpha-ionone draws inspiration from the natural aroma of orris root, one of perfumery's most precious ingredients. Natural orris root requires up to 5 years of aging before it releases its fragrance!
The shift toward sustainable production for this ingredient reflects a broader trend in the fragrance industry, where chemical synthesis using renewable raw materials helps protect rare natural resources and ecosystems.
Creating allyl alpha-ionone in the laboratory is a precise scientific achievement, as chemists must carefully control the molecular structure to attain the desired scent. Even minor changes in chemical composition can completely transform the aromatic profile!
The IFRA Standards form an industry self-regulatory system. They may prohibit or restrict the use of particular fragrance ingredients, or set specifications, according to end use. The status below reflects the IFRA data recorded for this ingredient. It is not a product certification and does not replace applicable law or assessment of the finished product.
