The name helichrysum comes from the ancient Greek words for sun and gold, referring to the plant's bright golden-yellow flowers that resemble small suns.
Helichrysum flowers have the notable property of maintaining their shape and color even when dried, which explains the nickname everlasting flower.
Helichrysum has been used for centuries in Mediterranean traditional medicine, particularly in regions such as Italy, Greece, and Corsica, where it grows abundantly in dry, stony soils.
