Description
Indole features a mature and captivating aroma found naturally in white florals like neroli and jasmine. Its natural origin is particularly important in perfumery, with jasmine grown in the Grasse region of France containing the highest natural levels of indole worldwide. Perfumers often produce a nature-identical version of indole in laboratories to ensure consistent quality and help preserve natural resources. Laboratory production also utilizes renewable materials, making its use more sustainable. Beyond flowers, indole is found in foods such as cabbage, citrus fruit, licorice, and tea.
