Lavandin is a hybrid of two lavender species: true lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and spike lavender (Lavandula latifolia), combining traits from both plants.
Compared to common lavender, lavandin produces up to three times more essential oil per plant, making it more cost-effective for commercial cultivation.
Although true lavender is considered more aromatically refined, lavandin is used more widely in the perfume and cosmetics industry due to greater availability and lower production costs.
