Additional information
The name fenugreek comes from the Latin foenum graecum, meaning Greek hay, highlighting the plant's long history in the Mediterranean. Ancient Egyptians used it in embalming and incense production.
Fenugreek is widely used in the food industry to produce artificial maple flavorings. If you have consumed maple-flavored products, you have likely tasted fenugreek.
In the traditional medicine of various cultures, fenugreek is used to support lactation, regulate blood sugar levels and act as a tonic. In fact, fenugreek seeds have been found in archaeological excavations dating back to 4000 BCE.
