Nitriles are an important class of ingredients in modern perfumery, with 2,6-nonadienenitrile standing out for its ability to deliver green notes with exceptional longevity.
While natural violet extract requires large quantities of flowers for production, synthetic 2,6-nonadienenitrile offers a similar aroma without the need to harvest rare plants.
The laboratory production of fragrance ingredients like 2,6-nonadienenitrile helps reduce pressure on natural ecosystems, as it does not require the cultivation or harvesting of large amounts of plant material.
The IFRA Standards form an industry self-regulatory system. They may prohibit or restrict the use of particular fragrance ingredients, or set specifications, according to end use. The status below reflects the IFRA data recorded for this ingredient. It is not a product certification and does not replace applicable law or assessment of the finished product.
