Delta-decalactone is one of the key components that give peaches their characteristic scent. When you smell a ripe peach, this molecule is responsible for the creamy, sweet sensation you perceive.
In the world of perfumery, delta-decalactone is often used to create gourmand fragrances, which are scents that smell edible and stimulate the appetite, evoking the feel of luxurious desserts and creamy sweets.
The delta in the ingredient name is not random. It refers to the position of the oxygen atom in the molecular structure, acting as a kind of chemical address that determines its properties and aroma.
