Description
Texas cedarwood oil is obtained via steam distillation from the heartwood of Juniperus Mexicana, a striking cypress native from northeastern Mexico to southwestern Missouri in the USA. This oil delivers a clean and dry woody scent featuring distinct balsamic notes. Many perfumers compare its aroma to pencil shavings, a familiar quality that evokes schoolyard memories. Texas cedarwood oil performs exceptionally well in masculine fragrance compositions containing notes of leather, patchouli, pine and vetiver. Fragrance makers use it across a wide range of products, from body perfumes to grooming items and home fragrances.

Additional information
- The scent of Texas cedarwood oil strongly resembles pencil shavings because many pencils were traditionally made from cedarwood! This characteristic aroma you may remember from your school days comes from the exact same aromatic compounds.
- Despite its name, Juniperus Mexicana is not a true cedar but belongs to the cypress family. True cedars (Cedrus) originate from the Mediterranean and Himalayan regions, while Juniperus species were called "cedars" due to their similar aroma.
- Cedarwood oil was used in ancient Egypt for mummification due to its preservative and antiseptic properties. The Egyptians considered it a sacred material that protected the body on the journey to the afterlife.
