What is this ingredient and how does it smell?

Distilled vetiverol acetate is a highly refined ingredient with a dry, fresh, woody scent and earthy undertones. Unlike raw vetiver essential oil, this distilled version is cleaner and softer, retaining sweet, balsamic, and faintly smoky facets that bring depth and elegance to fragrance compositions.

Is it of natural origin, synthetic, or both?

It is a semi-synthetic ingredient derived from the roots of the Vetiveria zizanioides plant. Production involves distilling the essential oil, isolating the natural alcohols such as vetiverol, and then acetylating them under controlled conditions to create a stable, high-quality aromatic ester.

Is it safe to use in our home products?

The use of vetiverol acetate is governed by the strict standards of the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) and the European Commission, ensuring its presence in products remains within safe limits. This regulatory framework defines maximum concentrations based on product type, keeping everyday use strictly controlled and safe for consumers.

Is it vegan and cruelty-free?

This ingredient aligns with vegan principles, as it comes from a plant-based raw material and contains no animal derivatives. In addition, its production follows modern purification methods aimed at maintaining the quality and stability of the final fragrance without unnecessary additives.

It brings a clean, fresh quality reminiscent of a forest after rain. Often used as a base note, it lends stability and a velvety, earthy warmth to perfumes and personal care products.
