2-methylbutyl acetate has an identical molecular structure whether it comes from nature or is created in the laboratory, making it impossible for our noses to tell the difference!
Perfumers use this ingredient as a key building block to create complex fruity fragrances, combining it with other ingredients to replicate the scent of fruits other than the apple.
Although we mainly associate it with apples, 2-methylbutyl acetate occurs naturally in many foods we consume daily, contributing to the characteristic aroma of certain types of bananas and other tropical fruits.
