Macrocyclic musks like Exaltenone® are considered more environmentally friendly than older types of synthetic musks because they break down more easily in nature.
The creation of Exaltenone® in 1966 represents an important milestone in the evolution of synthetic fragrance ingredients, at a time when the perfume industry was seeking alternatives to animal-derived musks.
Exaltenone® is effective at extremely low concentrations, making it a cost-effective choice for perfumers since small quantities are required to achieve the desired scent profile.
