Description
Cinnamic alcohol is an aromatic ingredient found naturally in cinnamon bark and tea tree leaves, contributing to their distinct scent. For guaranteed purity and stability in fragrances, experts also create laboratory-identical versions. Cinnamic alcohol is also detected in smaller quantities in natural sources such as balsam, raspberries, ylang-ylang flowers, and lime. This wide natural presence allows it to impart versatile and warm scent notes, enriching formulations with depth and a sense of sweet warmth.

Regulatory information
Cinnamic alcohol is a well-studied and widely used fragrance ingredient. It has been recognized by European Union scientific bodies as a potential skin sensitizer, meaning it can cause a skin reaction such as redness, rashes, or itching. These reactions can be difficult to pinpoint and are equally likely to be caused by natural or synthetic ingredients. The Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) has completed a formal safety assessment and concluded that cinnamic alcohol is a weak skin sensitizer. In an extensive study, 99.4% of participants reported no reaction to cinnamic alcohol.
