Cedrenol is linked to the cedar tree, which held a significant place in ancient civilizations. Egyptians used cedarwood to make sarcophagi, while ancient Greeks and Romans valued it for its aromatic properties.
Laboratory production of cedrenol requires significantly fewer natural resources compared to extraction from natural sources. Producing 1 kilogram of natural cedrenol would require a massive quantity of fruit, whereas the synthetic method dramatically reduces this demand.
Although cedrenol is associated with the scent of cedar, it is unexpectedly found in everyday fruits such as cranberries and citrus. The next time you enjoy a lime, part of the aroma you perceive is due to cedrenol!
