Isononyl acetate is an ingredient used primarily in lavender and bergamot fragrance reconstructions. It offers a functional character with tea, powder and orris root notes. Its aromatic profile combines fruity pineapple notes with powdery violet floral notes, while standing out for the bergamot and dry wood notes it provides.
This ingredient appears in significant quantities in certain varieties of Lavandin essential oil and Bitter Orange essential oil. Aromatically, Isononyl acetate resembles the molecules Cetone V and Allyl Alpha-Ionone, but differs thanks to the bergamot and dry wood notes that evoke Iso E Super.
Molecular identity: Isononyl acetate is one of the few molecules in perfumery that simultaneously combines fruity, floral and woody notes in a single chemical structure.
Although widely used in synthetic formulations, Isononyl acetate occurs naturally in specific Lavandin varieties, imparting a unique aromatic profile to their essential oil that differentiates it from classic lavender.
In the world of perfumery, Isononyl acetate acts as a bridge between fragrance families, allowing perfumers to create smooth transitions from citrus to floral and woody notes within a composition.
