The name Labrador Tea is linked to the Labrador region of Canada, where the plant grows in abundance in cold northern climates and bogs.
When European settlers arrived in North America, they quickly adopted the use of Labrador Tea from indigenous peoples, particularly during the American Revolutionary War when tea from Asia was scarce.
Labrador Tea has a distinctive aroma described as balsamic and slightly spicy, and was used in purification rituals by various indigenous tribes.
