Gurjun balsam has been used for centuries in traditional Southeast Asian medicine to treat skin conditions and as an antiseptic.
Gurjun balsam is harvested much like pine resin, by tapping the trunk of Dipterocarpus trees and collecting the secreted resin.
Gurjunene exists in various isomeric forms, including alpha-gurjunene and beta-gurjunene, each with slightly different aromatic characteristics, making it a complex and interesting ingredient for perfumers.
