Damascone-Alpha® is an important perfumery ingredient used to build rose, tuberose, amber and spicy notes in fragrances. It brings green, spicy and fruity dimensions to floral compositions, enriching fragrance complexity. Due to its high potency, it is typically used in diluted form.
The history of the ingredient begins in 1965, when chemists P. Ruzicka and Dr. Demole discovered the first rose ketones while analyzing Damask Rose Absolute. This discovery paved the way for synthesizing a category of molecules that would play a decisive role in the fragrance industry.
Compared to Damascone-Beta®, Damascone-Alpha® features a more powerful and earthy profile, whereas Damascone-Beta® offers more fruity and sweet notes.
