Additional information
Isopulegol is structurally related to menthol, which explains its characteristic cooling sensation. It activates the same cold receptors in the skin, creating a cooling feeling without any actual temperature change.
The name pulegol comes from the Latin name for pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium), a mint species used since antiquity for its aromatic and therapeutic properties.
Beyond its use in fragrances, isopulegol is also utilized in insect repellent products due to properties that deter certain insects, offering a more pleasant alternative compared to other chemical repellents.
