Methyl 3-nonenoate is one of the key molecules that make up the characteristic scent of guava, contributing to the tropical identity we instantly recognize when cutting open a fresh guava.
In the world of perfumery, this ingredient is often used to create freshly cut cucumber impressions in green and aquatic fragrances, offering a sense of crispness and cleanliness.
The laboratory production of one kilogram of methyl 3-nonenoate can replace the need to harvest hundreds of kilograms of fresh guava, contributing significantly to reducing the environmental footprint of the fragrance industry.
