Ambrette seeds have been used in perfumery for more than 300 years, with their earliest recorded uses dating back to 18th-century France.
The name "ambrette" comes from the French word "ambrette", a diminutive of "ambre" (amber), because its scent resembles animal musk while originating from a plant source.
Using synthetic alternatives like Ambrettex XMN® supports the sustainability of the fragrance industry by reducing the need to harvest rare natural ambrette seeds, the cultivation of which requires specific climatic conditions and significant natural resources.
The IFRA Standards form an industry self-regulatory system. They may prohibit or restrict the use of particular fragrance ingredients, or set specifications, according to end use. The status below reflects the IFRA data recorded for this ingredient. It is not a product certification and does not replace applicable law or assessment of the finished product.
