Rosewood is used in perfumery to build natural pink facets alongside spicy and citrus fragrance notes. Historically, large quantities of this tree's essential oil were produced in the Grasse region and South America. Today, production has dropped sharply and takes place exclusively in Brazil, with the tree facing the threat of extinction.
Its scarcity is notable, as an average of only one tree is found per hectare of the Amazon rainforest. Its chemical composition consists of over 90 percent Linalool, making it a primary source of natural Linalool. Botanically, the tree belongs to the Lauraceae family and the genus Aniba.
