Description
Ethyl linalool is a widely used ingredient in the fragrance industry, known for its fresh and rich floral scent that often recalls bergamot and lavender, lending a sense of cleanliness and refinement. This fragrance ingredient is typically prepared in a laboratory through various chemical methods, often starting from linalool, a natural terpene found in many plants such as lavender, basil, and coriander. Its synthetic production allows for consistent quality and availability. In recent years, the fragrance industry has been exploring and adopting the use of renewable raw materials for the production of ethyl linalool, thereby contributing to sustainability and the preservation of the planet's valuable natural resources.
Additional information
- Ethyl linalool is like a "relative" of natural linalool. While they share a similar scent, ethyl linalool is created in the laboratory, allowing perfumers to enjoy its aromatic properties without depending solely on natural sources.
- Perfumers consider ethyl linalool a valuable tool in fragrance creation, as it can add floral, fruity, and slightly woody notes to different fragrance families.
- Using ethyl linalool instead of natural linalool in certain cases helps protect natural populations of plants like lavender, which would otherwise need to be cultivated in large quantities for fragrance production.
