The name geranium comes from the Greek word geranos, meaning crane, because the plant's seed pods resemble a bird's beak.
Geranium oil is widely used in aromatherapy to help combat stress, balance emotions, and improve mood.
The geranium used in perfumery, botanically named Pelargonium graveolens, belongs to the Geraniaceae family but differs from the true geraniums of the Geranium genus commonly found in gardens.
