Tomatoes owe part of their characteristic aroma to geranyl butyrate, something you might not expect from an ingredient with such a sweet and fruity scent!
In perfumery, geranyl butyrate acts as a bridge between fruity and floral notes, allowing perfumers to create more complex and engaging compositions.
Despite its creamy feel, geranyl butyrate is actually an ester formed by the combination of acids and alcohols, a striking example of how chemistry can create delightful sensory experiences!
