Environmental benefit: Laboratory creation of fragrances such as 2-tert-Butylcyclohexanol reduces the need to harvest natural raw materials, thereby protecting rare plants and ecosystems that might otherwise be overexploited for natural oil production.
Scientific innovation in fragrance chemistry allows scientists to accurately reproduce natural scents, such as a pine forest aroma, without cutting down trees or gathering plants.
Before reaching scented products, every synthetic ingredient such as 2-tert-Butylcyclohexanol undergoes extensive safety testing that can last several years and include dozens of different scientific evaluations.
The IFRA Standards form an industry self-regulatory system. They may prohibit or restrict the use of particular fragrance ingredients, or set specifications, according to end use. The status below reflects the IFRA data recorded for this ingredient. It is not a product certification and does not replace applicable law or assessment of the finished product.
