The chemical composition of Rum Ether includes esters also found in actual rum, but in a more concentrated form, which is why just a few drops can impart an intense aroma to a fragrance formulation.
The first synthetic versions of Rum Ether were developed in the 19th century, when chemists began experimenting with creating aromatic compounds that mimicked natural scents.
Professional perfumers often combine Rum Ether with vanilla and wood notes to build richer, more complex compositions reminiscent of aged spirits.
