The molecular structure of Methyl cyclohexadiene features a cyclic ring with double bonds that interact with olfactory receptors much like natural lemon components do, which explains its characteristic scent.
Using synthetic ingredients like Methyl cyclohexadiene reduces the need for extensive citrus farming solely for fragrance purposes, conserving significant amounts of water and land.
Synthetic lemon scents have a history spanning over 100 years in perfumery, with the first successful compositions appearing in the early 20th century and revolutionizing the creation of accessible, stable fragrances.
