The name "Osmanthus" comes from the Greek words "osmi" (scent) and "anthos" (flower), reflecting the plant's intense aromatic nature.
In China, Osmanthus is considered a symbol of love, good fortune and romance. The Osmanthus festival is celebrated every autumn when the flowers bloom, and the plant is traditionally used in sweets, tea and wine.
Despite their tiny size (just 1 centimeter), Osmanthus flowers produce one of the most potent fragrances in the plant world, with a single tree able to scent an entire neighborhood when in bloom.
