The champaca tree, which is a natural source of benzyl phenylacetate, is sacred in many South and Southeast Asian cultures and is often planted near temples and religious sites.
The champaca tree is also known as the "Joy Perfume Tree" due to its intensely pleasant blossom fragrance that can be perceived from a distance.
Champaca flowers have been used in traditional perfumery for centuries, particularly in India and Indonesia, where fresh blossoms are often worn in the hair as a natural fragrance.
