Lotus seeds possess remarkable longevity, with seeds over 1,000 years old having successfully germinated when planted, making them one of the longest-living viable seeds in the world.
In science, the lotus effect refers to self-cleaning properties inspired by lotus leaves, which have led to the development of hydrophobic and self-cleaning surfaces in various applications.
Unlike most plants, the lotus has the ability to regulate its temperature much like warm-blooded animals, maintaining a steady temperature even when the surrounding environment is very cold or hot.
