Additional information
Traditional harvesting: In ancient times, labdanum was gathered in an unusual way, by collecting it from the beards of goats that grazed among the rockrose bushes. The resin stuck to their coats, and shepherds would then remove it using special combs.
Labdanum was used in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia as an ingredient for incense in religious rituals, while traditional medicine valued it for its antiseptic and soothing properties.
In modern perfumery, labdanum is a key component of amber-style fragrances and acts as a natural fixative that helps scents last longer on the skin.
