Isobutyl acetate is one of the key components that give bananas their characteristic scent and is widely used in the food industry to create artificial banana flavor in sweets and beverages.
Although associated with the sweet scent of banana, this ingredient is found naturally in various alcoholic beverages such as rum, whiskey, and brandy, contributing to their complex aroma.
One of the more exotic natural products containing this ingredient is spineless monkey oranges (Strychnos spinosa), fruits native to Africa that have a distinct flavor combining elements of banana, quince, and vanilla.
