Additional information
Indigenous peoples of the Americas used Virginia cedarwood oil not only for its healing properties but also in sacred ceremonies, believing that cedar smoke could cleanse the spirit and ward off negative energies.
Despite its name, Virginia cedarwood is not a true cedar but belongs to the juniper family (Juniperus). True cedars belong to the genus Cedrus and are native to the Mediterranean and the Himalayas.
Juniperus virginiana trees can live for more than 900 years and are exceptionally resilient to harsh environmental conditions, including drought and extreme temperatures.
